Middle School Youth Group (MSYG)
Meets two to three times monthly Monday nights at church, 5:30-7:30 pm
MSYG welcomes all sixth and seventh graders to its program of faith, fun, and fellowship. We teach that God calls us to be His hands on this earth so our group does a tremendous amount of work reaching out to others, with a special emphasis on helping homeless families. Youth meet for a parent prepared dinner and then an activity. Mission projects include cooking and serving a Salvation Army dinner, hosting a Halloween Party and an Easter Egg Hunt for the children in a local family shelter, building and decorating gingerbread houses that we sell to purchase gift cards for people in need, spending a day on an urban worksite in conjunction with the City Mission Society, and presenting our ever-fabulous Joyful Noise Coffee House as a benefit for homeless women. We’re led by a group of enthusiastic volunteers and Middle School Youth Minister Joan Whitman, a former sixth-grade teacher.
